What if you lose the compass of moderation?
I have been reading some articles about the side effects of trying to be too happy or too cheerful. I mean, having a positive attitude is a great thing. I think I'm a relatively optimistic person. But constant suppression of unhappiness or sadness with an overly cheerful facade will eventually burn you out. I think it's probably healthier to take a moment to recognize what's making you feel down, as long as you can take a positive step forward afterwards. Don't push yourself too hard. I think it's ok to commiserate with yourself with a pint of ice cream or your favourite donut once in awhile. Don't blow your fuse.

I love donuts, but this one was strictly for reference. The only way for me to capture that confetti on the ground was to do some "research."
