小川すはる １９７９年生まれ。米国北ケンタッキー大学卒業後、オハイオ州シンシナティ大学・大学院で美術史修士号取得。カリフォルニア州立大学サンバーナディーノ校にて美術資料室学芸員として勤務後、どうしてもイラストレーターになるという夢を諦める事が出来ず、カナダに渡りイラストレーションの勉強を始める。２０１４年オンタリオ美術デザイン大学(Ontario College of Art and Design University)デザイン学部イラスト科卒業。「一枚の絵は一千語に匹敵する」”A picture is worth a thousand words”という言葉の通り、強いコンセプトと表現力によって人々に色々なメッセージを伝える事の出来るイラストレーターを目指す。

現在はオンタリオ州立芸術大学イラスト科にて助教授として教鞭を執りながら主に絵本、教育機構のイラストを担当している。

名前の「すはる」は『枕草子』の一節、「星はすばる、ひこぼし、明星、夕つつ、よばいぼしをだにまからましかば、まして」に由来。
