If Only We Had A Reminder - Sculptural installation, Sep 2014
I created this sculptural installation for a group exhibition Politics of Being Ugly, curated by a Toronto-based art collective Woman King Collective. The theme was to "look at the imperfect, the uncomfortable, the hilarious and the magic that is human." I reclaimed an old cuckoo clock and turned it into something grotesque and peculiar. It's a perfectly functioning cuckoo clock, so the bird cuckoos and greets us with hello. It's meant to remind us of the beauty that exists within life’s imperfection. Every hour it wants to announce that beautiful things do occur in the midst of it all, and to emphasize that they’re worth the wait if you’re patient enough to see it. Private collection, Japan.
